Life Tips: Omega-3 and Diabetes
According to an observational study from Spain, for adults with type 2 diabetes keeping a Mediterranean diet that includes at least two servings of fatty fish per week may decrease the risk of diabetic retinopathy.
The data analyzed by the researchers were from people that participated in a trial known as PREDIMED, which ran from 2003 to 2009 in Spain and tested a Mediterranean diet, extra virgin olive oil or nuts were added to it.
About 3,600 adults that were between 55 to 80 years old who participated in the trial had type 2 diabetes and the analysis focused on them.
