Manly Hobby: Billiards
Ah, the weekend has arrived! Do you have plans for tonight? Whether it’s just chilling or going directly to the club, many of us will have a great night. There are many ways to kill time, especially at our age, when the night is young and we feel capable of anything. One good way is, of course, going out for drinks, although it is also possible to practice sport in a most distinguished local. We are talking about billiards, the game of the modern youth.
Pool and billiards combine strategy, geometry, and even psychology in order to win. It’s also an excellent way to spend time and shoot the bull with your close friends.
Like many other European sports that have a long tradition, the invention of the pool is disputed between France and England. Both sides have arguments, although similar discrepancies the history suggests that the creation of the game was more or less simultaneously in both countries, leading to further mutual influence. What is clear is that the name “pool” comes from the French bille (ball) and that the first official championship was held in the UK.
