Weight and cancer, what you need to know. Alpha Rise Health

Staying in your right weight throughout your life could lower your risk of developing different diseases including at least eight types of cancer, an international cancer research group says.

The list includes cancers of the stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, ovary, prostate and thyroid.  It also includes a form of brain cancer that is known as meningioma, as well as a type of blood cancer called multiple myeloma.

When it comes to the prostate cancer being obese has been associated with a small (3 %) higher rate of prostate cancer relapse and a 7 % higher rate of cancer spreading. Heavier patients also had a 15 % increased rate of dying from their cancer and a 5 % greater rate of dying from other causes.
